7. Returning to Scoraig

After a two week stay back in the midlands visiting family and friends we've returned to Scoraig. My youngest son Joe has come back with us for a couple of weeks. After a night in a travelodge in Perth (disrupted by tabby meowing all night wanting to get out of the room) we continue our journey. This is the first time we have left our boat at the jetty at Badleurach whilst we've been away, we normally use the post-boat so I was very relieved to see the boat tied to the rock where we'd left it. A family of seals were watching us from nearby popping their heads out the water from time to time. We'd been a bit nervous as high winds were forecast but we'd brought quite a bit of luggage with us and it would be good to get it over in one go. Such hard work though, after travelling to then pull the boat into the water and load it with all our bags to then unload it all again on the other side. We have to unload it before pulling the boat up to try to lighten the load. Carrying heavy bags over slippy rocks isn't easy. A neighbour kindly pulled the boat up for us using his quad so we didn't have to use the winch. Carrying as much as we could we walked back to Ali Shornets, I unpacked while Rich took the quad down to the jetty to fetch the rest. It's now raining heavily and the wind is picking up, so glad we crossed the loch when we did.
It's getting dark much earlier now so we're going to have to get some lighting sorted out. We had the woodburner on which really warmed the place up.  The night sky was wondrous, I stood looking up at the stars and felt very thankful that we're here. High winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightning over night. At one point I thought I could hear the wind lifting the roof tiles. It wasn't until this morning I remembered that we've a tin roof. We've plenty of electricity though, thanks to the weather. We've got the fridge, a lamp and the slow cooker all on at the same time. Things are moving forward.
