80. It's bitterly cold

After a mild wet muddy Christmas it's gone very cold. It's not meant to get above freezing today and tonight is forecast to be the coldest so far this winter. I think this is the coldest it's been since we moved here in 2017. Everywhere is white over, it's not snowed a great amount in one go but has accumulated over the past week. We had a quiet Christmas and Rich left on the 28th to see his Dad who'd been taken poorly and admitted to hospital. Sadly he passed away but Rich thankfully got to see him and spend a bit of time with him and was with him when he passed. So new year was quite sombre and we both spent it by ourselves. Rich returned on the postboat on the 3rd January.

Work on the house has stopped for the moment, it's too cold to do much and we need another delivery of building supplies. Rich is working on getting the new solar panels up and working. We've been struggling for power again as it's been very calm for the past week.

I'm trying to chop wood every day, even if I only cut enough to replace what we're using, at least our supply isn't going down. We've not bought any wood for the past year apart from a few boxes of briquettes so that's a big step forward.
We're hoping it warms up soon as our water has been frozen all day today. I think this is the first time this has ever happened. The forecast after tomorrow is warmer with high winds so that will help.
There's so much to do but until the weather improves a bit we'll have to wait. We did manage to collect seaweed from the jetty for the veg patch but it's still frozen in bags at the moment. Roll on spring!! Wishing everyone a happy New year, hope its a good one ❤️
