We've still not had much of a summer. Lots of rain, quite a bit of wind and the odd bit of sun. Despite this, everything is growing. The poppies, roses and cornflowers are out in the vegetable patch, the potatoes are just flowering. The cauliflowers I lovingly overwintered haven't produced anything so are going to be pulled up to make way for the leeks. Strawberries have done well, we've had a bowl most days and I've been using them in cakes. We got our first courgette today off one of the plants in the polytunnel. I've also started weeding the garden in front of the house which has become very overgrown.
Work is continuing on the house and Rich is still hopeful that we'll be in before Christmas. We'll see!! The walls upstairs have all gone in, been insulated and plasterboarded. The plan is to plaster the bedroom in the next couple of weeks then I can start painting.
Once the bedroom is painted we're thinking of moving the furniture in so that we free up space elsewhere.
I've been trying to decide for ages what colours to paint the walls. We've finally decided to go quite neutral, I want simplicity. The views from the windows are so colourful, I don't want anything to compete with it, if that makes sense. I want to take the opportunity to have a good clear out of all our belongings. I'm determined nothing will come into the house unless there's a place for it.
But overall I think we both feel more hopeful that it is finally going to be finished. Still a long way to go but we've bought the paint and think we've chosen a bath so there's definite progress. What a long journey this has turned out to be.
I love our life here though, to be surrounded by nature with views of the Loch and mountains is so much more than I thought I'd ever have. I'm very content. ♥️
