88. A quiet Christmas 🎄

It's Christmas eve, we returned yesterday from Inverness. I was only able to get a click and collect from tesco for the afternoon so instead of trying to get back before dark we booked a travelodge for the night. It took us about an hour to get out the car park at Tesco and before that I'd decided to nip to Marks & Spencers and had to ring Rich to come and save me. It was extremely busy with long queues at the checkout and carrying the basket had set my back off, I was only buying a few bits to take back to the travelodge as we didn't want to go out again. I did manage to have 3 baths whilst there though so it was worth it for that and I'm clean for Christmas. The postboat was doing an extra trip in the afternoon so we managed to get back on it. I brought my 2 sacks of flour which we'd left in the car after our last trip plus a sack of organic potatoes. It was lovely after the busyness of Inverness to get home, light the fire and just relax.
It's going to be a quiet Christmas so am hoping Rich and I can recuperate a bit. My back is much improved but I'm still having to be careful as it's really easy to overdo it.
I have managed to finish my mosaic in the house. It's not grouted yet but I'm quite pleased with it. It's nothing like I envisaged but I love the colours and the overall effect.
Work on the house has stopped until the new year. We're hoping for new energy and the will to get it finished. It feels better this way, we'll hopefully have it done for spring and can take our time with it. I think we got so caught up in trying to be in for Christmas that it took all the joy out of it. I feel patience can teach us a lot, we get so used to having things straight away whereas I've often found that it's in the waiting that the lesson is learnt and there is something very wondrous in doing all the work yourselves. We need to finish laying the floor then Rich will start the upstairs walls and building the kitchen units. Once he's started plastering the walls I'll be able to start painting.
We really need to sort the veg patch and the polytunnel out. It'll be time to start growing again soon!!
But for now we need to rest. Hopefully Christmas will give us the chance to do that. Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas time and a happy and peaceful new year. ❤️
