About 2 weeks ago I was sunbathing on the decking and now we've freezing temperatures and a good covering of snow. Rich has gone down to visit his Dad again so it's just me and tabby in the cabin. It has been bitterly cold overnight, not helped by tabby needing to go out every couple of hours. Can't quite believe I'm still leaving the door open until she comes back in but she's approaching 19 years old so quite an old lady now. She then gets into bed with me as it's warmer under the duvet than on her heated pad on the settee. She's not spoilt at all!
Despite my best intentions I've still not finished preparing the polytunnel, still need a bit more seaweed and still got to wipe the plastic down. I really can't face it at the moment. So basically I'm staying inside in front of the fire. I have made a curry this morning from one of my homegrown squashes and there's an apple cake in the oven from our cooking apples. My sister and husband are coming over for dinner tonight as is Richards daughter who arrived back last Monday, the day Rich left.
The snow is beautiful though, there was quite a blizzard this morning so I went out on the decking to watch. The field fares have arrived in large numbers and were flying from tree to tree. I think they're later than normal. They eat all the rowan berries which seem particularly plentiful this year. Who knows, perhaps we're in for a cold winter. It certainly feels that way today. ❄️❄️❄️
