31. New beginnings

The better weather has been wonderful, we've been getting out in the garden.
The daffodils are amazing, since thinning them out last year they've done really well. We're planning on continuing to cut back the gorse and brambles in the side field as there's a corner of the garden we haven't seen yet.

The woodstore is looking a bit healthier, the tree we took down is now chopped and thanks to Rich's daughter who came to stay last week is neatly stacked away.  I've not split the logs yet as it's easier if they're a bit drier. I had a go but gave up.

Work on the cabin has continued and we've brought what will be the backdoor, over on the boat this morning so we can measure it to make sure we allow enough room. I've ordered a new rug, think I might have been slightly premature!

We got up earlyish this morning and Rich gave me a lift on the quad down to the beginning of the track. We left our car there when we came back last week as it was windy. We've become experts at walking in as it's getting dark, we'd ended up being 2 hours later back than planned as the car needed more work doing on it at the garage than we'd thought but it was good to have it running properly again.

We decided I'd walk out on my own to fetch the car and drive it round to the jetty while Rich took our boat across to meet me. There was some shopping still in the car to bring across and we picked up the door for the cabin and 13 bags of sand and gravel. We've still an enormous load of concrete slabs to get over but at least we've cleared the last of the 3 tonne of sand and gravel. The next windy day it'll be used to do more on the kitchen floor in the house. Then Rich will order another 3 tonnes and we'll do it all again!

    The track to Badrallach

We've started to think about how we going to heat the house There are a few different options but it's difficult to know which one will be best. Once we've insulated the house we'll have more idea how much heat we're going to need. We've a long way to go but it does feel like we're getting somewhere and hopefully this will continue as long as it doesn't decide to snow heavily as it did this time last year.
