July 2017
We head back to Heanor after our short stay to pick up more of our stuff and collect the cat. We also pick up the bolts for the bed which I put safely in the glove compartment and give Rich total responsibility for. We put Tabby in the cat carrier, I'm convinced she'll be fine because 3 years earlier when she travelled to Wales with my sons to visit us, she just slept for the whole journey. Not this time though, she cried, panted, rapid breathing, the lot! It was very stressful. We'd booked in at a travelodge to break the journey and make sure we were able to arrive at the jetty in time to catch the post-boat. I'd no idea how Tabby would react once out the basket so we checked in and once in our room I released her. She loved it, you wouldn't have believed she was the same cat, exploring, purring and rolling round on the floor.
Early the following morning we leave the travelodge with Tabby and continue on our journey. We arrive at the jetty in time to unpack essential items to take across with us and carrying Tabby in her basket we get onto the post-boat. The sea is calm so hopefully Tabby won't be too stressed. Amazingly she doesn't seem to mind the boat, she is far more settled than she'd been in the car. We disembark and Rich finds our wheelbarrow which we'd left near the jetty. We put Tabby and basket in the wheelbarrow, once again she doesn't seem very perturbed, just the odd meow now and then. So off we go to show her our new home.
Back at Ali Shornets I can't wait to finally be able to put the bed together. I ask Rich for the bolts (which, I'm sure you remember I gave him full responsibility for) they're still in the glove compartment over the other side of the loch!!

A week later
Tabby settles in really well. She's gone from being a house cat (she never liked to go out much) to being a hunter (shrews mostly, the odd mouse) She seems really content in her new home. Other exciting news, we finally got all the bits of the bed together at the same time.
