93. Wading through treacle.

I can't believe it's 3 months since I last wrote. Life has felt very chaotic and it feels like we're getting nowhere. Although looking back, quite a bit has happened with the house. The bedroom has been plastered, it took ages because Rich wanted to put a curve between the wall and the ceiling. Then we decided the joists were too dark so they've been sanded. I undercoated and finally got to start painting. All but one wall needs another coat which will be done once the floor has been sanded.
Pipework for the kitchen and bathroom has started. The waste pipe for the bath is through the stone wall and we now have a bath. Hopefully it will be plumbed in quite soon. The toilet is going to have to wait until next year, the ground is too wet to open up the old drain. Everywhere is standing in water. We also discovered the rayburn is too low so it had to be lifted off its plinth to apply another layer of concrete, bringing it up to the same height as the work surfaces will be when we finally get a kitchen.
Outside the block work has been started for the extension but that too is not going to happen until next year. We'll hopefully get some sort of temporary porch in place.
Despite all this we are still hoping to be in for Christmas. As long as I've a cooker and sink in place we'll give it a go.
We did have a week away in July visiting family as I hadn't been down since last year. We've also just returned from a couple of days away in Glen Coe where we scattered Richard's Dad's ashes.
We seem to have had a spate of annoying events, the car needing work, the washing machine suddenly not working right, the toilet blocking and no water coming out the taps. Much of it due to the tap having been turned off on one of our water tanks. Hopefully most of it is sorted now although the car still needs more work.
So for now, we have to keep on keeping on and eventually🤞 we'll get there. ❤️
