86. More slow progress

Storm Amy came and went and I think we missed the worst of it. She didn't do any damage and we managed to get a reasonable nights sleep.
We'd been away the first week of September visiting family. On our return the washing machine packed up so we had to order a new one. We're still waiting for it to arrive and the dirty washing is halfway up the wall in the shower but fingers crossed it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. We're also hoping the resin we've ordered will arrive for the blades on the wind turbine.
We decided to go up on the hill before the arrival of Storm Amy and take our turbine down as 90 mph winds were forecast. We brought the blades back with us as they need a bit of maintenance. Of course this has now coincided with the arrival of the washing machine so we'll need to get it back up and working in order to have enough electricity to be able to use it.
Work on the house has continued and seems to be going on forever. Rich and youngest daughter have been working so very hard. I've been cooking meals, trying to clear the veg patch and polytunnel and nipping into the house to help when another pair of hands is needed. None of the jobs have been straight forward, it's good that Rich has so much building experience otherwise I'd have given up.
Upstairs the last remaining big roof window is out and the new smaller one has been fitted. The wooden floor has started to go down and today we made a start on the plasterboard. All very time consuming but progress is being made.
Downstairs we've got the difficulty of having to work round all the building materials as well as a few items of furniture that we've been unable to find space for anywhere else. All the wooden flooring for downstairs is piled up and we're going to have to move it out in order to finish screeding the last bit of floor before we can lay the new one. It's a bit of a logistical nightmare, the plan is to hopefully put it out on the lawn, keep it covered and get it back inside and down on the floor as soon as possible.
Once the floor has been screeded, a plinth can be made for the new log burner which is arriving next week. We decided to order in plenty of time to make sure it's here for Christmas. We didn't want a repeat of having to fit it Christmas eve like we did when we moved into the cabin. We've still got to fit a liner into the chimney which we are hoping goes in easier than the one for the Rayburn.
So lots of things are happening and it's all very busy. There's still so much to do and it can feel very overwhelming particularly when a job doesn't go to plan and takes so much longer than you thought it would. But we wouldn't want to be anywhere else and as long as we keep going we'll have a beautiful home.
