We are spending a few days in Ullapool with dear friends who have rented a holiday cottage for the week. We've had to pick our days carefully as the winds have been so high. We were just getting ready to leave when radio reports started talking about hurricane Ophelia passing through Ireland and there were mentions of the west coast. It looked calm on the water but the sky was darkening and the wind just starting to pick up. So glad we crossed when we did as within a couple of hours of us leaving it did get decidedly rough.
We've had a wonderful couple of days exploring the west coast past Stac Pollaidh towards Achiltibuie and the north coast nearly as far as Cape Wrath. Stunning scenery!
Heading back to Scoraig tomorrow.
